GERMAN BUNDESLIGA:- Leverkusen, Bremen agree on Boniface surgery

Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen have reached an agreement that Victor Boniface requires knee surgery, with the decision now resting on the Nigerian striker.

The 25-year-old, who joined Bremen on loan until summer 2026, has struggled this season, failing to score in 11 Bundesliga appearances.

The Nigerian forward, who was expected to address Werder’s striking woes, is currently sidelined with a knee injury that, according to reports in Bild, requires surgical intervention.
Should he opt for surgery, he would be ruled out for the remainder of the season and could return to Leverkusen earlier than initially planned.

The report adds that if Boniface declines the procedure, he is unlikely to feature for Werder again.

The club has reportedly indicated that playing him without surgery would carry a significant risk of further injury, potentially jeopardising his career.

Boniface is currently in Nigeria and is expected to return to Germany in the coming days, when discussions with both clubs will take place regarding his next steps.
While it remains uncertain whether he will return immediately to Leverkusen, it is widely reported that he will not feature for Werder Bremen again this season.
