UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: ATALANTA DENIES RIFT WITH LOOKMAN
Atalanta manager Ivan Juric has dismissed rumours of a fallout with Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman following a brief on-field exchange during their UEFA Champions League clash on Wednesday night.
Footage from the match appeared to show a heated conversation between Juric and Lookman moments after the winger was substituted, sparking speculation of a disagreement between the two.
However, Juric clarified after the game that the incident was simply an emotional moment, typical in competitive football.
“There’s no problem between me and Lookman. These things happen when players are passionate and want to keep playing. He’s an important part of this team,” the coach said.
Lookman, who has been instrumental in Atalanta’s strong domestic and European campaign this season, is expected to feature in their next Serie A fixture as the Bergamo side continues its push for silverware.
