FG Requires Thesis Submission for NYSC Enrollment
The Federal Government has enacted a new policy mandating all students to deposit their theses and final year projects into the Nigeria Education Repository and Databank (NERD) as a condition for participation in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Starting October 6, 2025, no graduate, whether trained in Nigeria or overseas, will be eligible for NYSC mobilization or exemption without confirmed evidence of adherence to this policy.
This directive was detailed in a circular released by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, following President Bola Tinubu’s endorsement on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
The circular clarifies that the NYSC enrollment criteria have been revised to comply with the President’s regulation, requiring proof of NERD policy compliance for all prospective corps members, regardless of their educational institution.
