The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Thursday rejected the Sierra Leone Stadium for Super Eagles Match in the 2023 AFCON qualifier due to lack of standard hotels within the city.
This development has marred the hope of Sierra Leone hosting Nigeria’s Super Eagles home in the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifier BSNSports.com.ng reports.
CAF put a halt to its initial decision of confirming the newly constructed Southern Arena in Bo City earlier this week, as the venue for the match after it found out that the city lacked standard hotels.
Considering the effect of the sudden decision by the African soccer ruling body the decision will have an adverse effect on the Lone Stars’ preparations since they are demanded to record maximum points in the remaining games if they must qualify for the biennial competition.
Going memory lane, Sierra Leone’s last appearance in the African Cup of Nations was in South Africa in 1996.
