NIPOST Announces $80 Customs Duty on Shipments to the US
The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has introduced a new policy effective August 29, 2025, requiring a mandatory prepaid customs duty of $80 (or its naira equivalent) for all postal shipments from Nigeria to the United States, excluding letters and documents.
According to a public notice issued on Friday, this change is in response to a recent Executive Order from the United States Government, which suspends de minimis exemptions for all international postal shipments. The order was enacted under the authority of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.
