President Tinubu Arrives in Tokyo for Key African Development Summit

President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Tokyo, Japan, marking the beginning of a significant international engagement following a brief stopover in Dubai. He was received at Haneda Airport early Monday morning by Ambassador Hideo Matsubara, Japan’s Ambassador in Charge of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD).

According to a statement from his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu’s primary destination is Yokohama, Japan, where he will attend the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) from August 20 to 22.

The summit, themed “Co-create Innovative Solutions with Africa,” will focus on strategies to propel Africa’s economic growth, attract private investment, and establish a resilient and sustainable continent.

In addition to the conference, the President is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Japanese leaders and engage with top executives of companies that have a notable presence in Nigeria. Following his commitments in Japan, President Tinubu will continue his working visit with a trip to Brazil.
