BREAKING: FG Orders Withdrawal of Case Against Ibom Air Passenger, Reduces KWAM 1 Ban

The Federal Government has withdrawn the criminal complaint against Ms. Comfort Emmanson, accused of assaulting airline staff aboard an Ibom Air flight on August 10, 2025. Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo said the decision followed consultations with stakeholders, remorse shown by the parties, and appeals from well-meaning Nigerians.

Keyamo confirmed that Ibom Air has agreed to drop its complaint, paving the way for Emmanson’s release from Kirikiri Correctional Centre this week. The Airline Operators of Nigeria will also lift her lifetime flight ban.

In a similar move, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has reduced Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde “KWAM 1” Marshall’s flight ban to one month, while also dropping criminal complaints against him. The artist will work with FAAN as an ambassador for airport security etiquette.

ValueJet pilots Captain Oluranti Ogoyi and First Officer Ivan Oloba will have their licenses restored after serving a one-month suspension and undergoing professional reappraisal.

The minister also directed all aviation agencies to begin a security retreat next week, focusing on de-escalation tactics and improved customer relations.

Keyamo stressed that the decisions were made on “compassionate grounds” but warned that safety and security in the aviation sector remain paramount.
