Nigeria, Saint Lucia to Formalize Diplomatic Ties
President Bola Tinubu and Saint Lucia’s Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre have announced their commitment to establishing formal diplomatic relations between their two nations. This significant development was discussed during President Tinubu’s ongoing state visit to the Caribbean island.
During his courtesy visit to Prime Minister Pierre’s official residence in Castries, President Tinubu emphasized the shared historical and cultural bonds between African and Caribbean peoples. He highlighted the mutual aspirations that bind Nigeria and Saint Lucia, stressing a determination to deepen their relationship.
Both leaders foresee enhanced cooperation in crucial sectors such as trade, investment, tourism, education, and cultural exchange.
These efforts aim to not only strengthen economic ties but also improve consular services for citizens of both countries.
Prime Minister Pierre echoed this optimism, noting the “air of enthusiasm” for future bilateral relations. He also recalled the historic contribution of Saint Lucian Sir Darnley Alexander as Nigeria’s fourth Chief Justice, underlining the deep-rooted connections between the two nations.
