Presidency Dispels Replacement Rumours of SGF Akume
The Presidency has moved swiftly to debunk widespread rumours claiming the removal of Senator George Akume as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). A statement released on Saturday June 28, 2025, by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, categorically stated that Senator Akume remains in his position.
According to Onanuga, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is currently on an official visit to Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments. The statement described the circulating information about Akume’s replacement as “untrue” and the handiwork of “agents of mischief.”
