FIFA Club World Cup Fallout: Real Madrid Forward Kylian Mbappe Hospitalised

Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe has been hospitalised with acute gastroenteritis, the Spanish club confirmed on Thursday, following his absence in their FIFA Club World Cup opener against Al-Hilal.

The France captain missed Tuesday’s training session due to a fever and was ruled out of Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with the Saudi Arabian side.

In an official statement, Real Madrid revealed that Mbappe is undergoing “a series of tests” after being diagnosed with the intestinal infection, which typically causes vomiting, diarrhoea, and abdominal discomfort.

The 25-year-old forward, who recently joined Real Madrid, will be monitored closely by the club’s medical team ahead of their next fixture against Mexican side Pachuca on Sunday.
