Hearn Urges Fury to Commit to Joshua Fight Amid Comeback Rumour

Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has made a fresh appeal to former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury to officially end his retirement and agree to a long-anticipated clash with Anthony Joshua.

Fury, who stepped away from boxing after his defeat in a rematch against Oleksandr Usyk in December 2024, has recently hinted at a potential comeback on social media. However, he has yet to make a formal announcement regarding his return to the ring.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Hearn expressed growing frustration at what he called Fury’s “online teasing,” urging the Gypsy King to make a definitive commitment.

“There is no bigger fight in global boxing right now than Fury versus Joshua,” Hearn stated, adding that the timing is ideal given that neither fighter currently holds a world title and promotional relations between rival camps have significantly improved.

Joshua, the former two-time heavyweight champion, is currently scheduled to undergo minor elbow surgery but is expected to recover in time for a potential late-2025 bout.

Hearn emphasized that the current climate—bolstered by the recent commercial and sporting success of high-profile domestic showdowns like Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn—presents the perfect opportunity to deliver a blockbuster British heavyweight bout.

Should Fury decide against a return to the sport, Hearn confirmed that alternative matchups are being explored for Joshua. These include a possible rematch with Dillian Whyte or a showdown with the winner of the upcoming Usyk–Daniel Dubois rematch, slated for July 19 at Wembley Stadium.
