Nollywood’s ace producer and actress, Funke Akindele’s latest film, ‘Everybody Loves Jenifa,’ has smashed records to become the highest-grossing movie of all time in West Africa, earning an impressive N1.6 billion just one month after its release.
Filmone, the movie’s distributor, shared the news on its Instagram page, @filmoneng, on Monday.
“A billy gang, we’re up! Everybody Loves Jenifa has grossed over N1.6 billion at the box office! We can’t thank you enough for showing this movie all your love!” the company wrote.
Joining in the celebration, Akindele expressed her gratitude to fans on her Instagram page, @funkejenifaakindele. “Na God do am. I am so grateful to you all. I no know wetin I go write again,” she wrote.
The movie out-runs Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King in the Nigerian box office, which is doing well globally in key territories like France, India, United Kingdom/Ireland, and Italy, among others.
