Why Eric Chelle May Not Lead Super Eagles to 2025 AFCON

Following the short term contract agreement with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Éric Chelle may not be in charge of the Super Eagles when the 2025 African Nations Cup Kicks off in Morocco.

Chelle’s contract may not be extended if he fails to qualify Nigeria despite the three times African champions being in a difficult situation in Group C.

The short term contract will end in October 2025, same month the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier ends.

With only the table toppers having automatic ticket to the World Cup, Nigeria are 5th on the log with three points from four matches while Rwanda, South Africa, and Benin Republic are first, second and third respectively with seven points apiece. Lesotho are placed fourth with five points.

Matchday 10 of African FIFA World Cup qualifier will hold between 6-14th when Nigeria host Benin Republic in Uyo.

This will be the last match in the qualifier and at this time, the country would have known whether she qualify or not. And the results will determine whether or not the contract could extended.
