The Senate approved the 2025 Appropriations Bill, increasing the budget to ₦54.99 trillion.
This followed a review of the bill’s key components, presented by Senator Solomon Olamilekan, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations.
The ₦54.99 trillion total expenditure encompasses allocations for recurrent spending, capital projects, debt servicing, and a projected fiscal deficit.
Senator Olamilekan explained that the budget was increased by ₦700 billion to fund crucial projects and by $200 million to address funding shortfalls resulting from the U.S. government’s withdrawal of global health support.
