“I Learned Yoruba For A Film Role”

“I Learned Yoruba for a Film Role” – Chioma Chukwuka Opens Up

Nollywood actress Chioma Chukwuka-Akpotha has revealed how she prepared for her role in the new Netflix series, Seven Doors.

In the series, she plays an Igbo queen married to a Yoruba king, portrayed by actor Femi Adebayo. The story delves into themes of kingship, family, love, betrayal, and reconciliation.

To bring authenticity to her role, Chioma disclosed that she had to learn Yoruba, emphasizing that the dialect used in the series was not the casual Yoruba often spoken in Lagos.

“I had to learn Yoruba for my role in Seven Doors. The Yoruba in the movie was not the regular one spoken in Lagos State, so I had to be very particular about the tone,” she shared.

Chioma’s dedication to mastering the language for her role highlights her commitment to delivering an authentic and compelling performance in the much-anticipated series.
