Nigeria Red Cross Set To Raise N2.5bn To Tackle Hunger, Poor Health

As part of its efforts to ameliorate hunger in the country, the Nigeria Red Cross Society is poised to raise about N2.5 billion to enhance livelihood and quality health service for the citizens.

This was the the inference of the society during its 2024 Annual Fundraising and Gala Night, themed “Keeping Humanity Alive,” at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos at the weekend.

The event aimed to raise vital funds to tackle Nigeria’s worsening hunger crisis, affecting over 31.5 million people.

Speaking, the NRCS President, Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga, emphasized the urgent need for collective action, stating, “It doesn’t take much to make a difference.

According to him, every contribution- large or small – has the potential to change someone’s life.

He said; “When you give, you’re not just donating money, you’re offering someone the chance to look forward to tomorrow without fear of hunger.”

The gala dinner featured captivating performances, charity auctions, and inspiring stories of resilience. Distinguished guests, including government officials, corporate leaders, and philanthropists, came together to demonstrate their commitment to the cause.

Through this event, the NRCS seeks to raise N2.5 billion to enhance livelihoods, health, nutrition, and Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) services in severely affected regions.
