The leadership of the Labour Party national transitional committee has affirmed the position of the national executive council held in Umuahia, to dissolve the Abure-led NWC and appointed a 29-member caretaker committee, headed by a former minister of finance, Menadi Usman, with Darlington Nwokocha, a former senator, as secretary.
The convener of the group, Salisu Mohammed stated this during a press briefing in Abuja.
The national transitional committee says it is laughable that Julius Abure will raise an objection to the national executive council and stakeholders’ appointment of interim leadership for the labour party when himself is a double beneficiary of similar appointments in 2021 and 2023.
The national transitional committee says Julius Abure’s tenure had expired despite several extensions by the independent national electoral commission.
