The owner of Chippa United football club, Siviwe Mpengesi, has revealed that the Chilli Boys will be keen to allow Stanley Nwabali to leave the club this summer if they receive a better offer for him in the summer.
This development comes after many clubs declared interest in the talented Super Eagles goalkeeper, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Some of the clubs interested in the player are: English Championship side, Queens Park Rangers and Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ettifaq.
Sources also disclosed that Kaizer Chiefs have also been linked with the Nigeria international who are in search of a replacement for Itumeleng Khune whose future at the club looks uncertain.
“We are talking to a few clubs abroad,” Mpengesi told iDiski Times.
“We also believe that he (Nwabali) needs something better, especially after the performance that he showed at the AFCON in Ivory Coast.
“You know, being number two, they (Nigeria) were runner-ups, he (Nwabali) was number two, second best goalkeeper of AFCON.
“So if the opportunity comes especially abroad, of course even if it comes locally and the offer is for him (Nwabali), it’s not even for us. If the offer for him is better then we are not going to hold on to him.”
Last week, Nwabali had a clean sheet in Chippa’s Nedbank Cup quarter-final match against TS Galaxy which indicates his value as a goalkeeper and he’s expected to continue in goal for Chippa United when they face SuperSport on Saturday (today).
The Chilli Boys are 10th in the PSL standings with 29 points from 23 games.
