Lukaku is returning to Italy after Chelsea agreed a deal with AS Roma for a season-long loan.
Following a loan spell at Inter Milan last term, the Belgium captain and record goalscorer is expected to feature in Serie A for a second consecutive season.
According to a statement confirming his move from Chelsea, it was revealed that that Lukaku has joined AS Roma on loan. The statement read:
“Lukaku has completed a season-long loan move to Serie A club AS Roma,”
“The Belgium international, who joined Chelsea in the summer of 2021, spent the previous campaign on loan at Inter Milan.
“Lukaku will link up in the Italian capital with former Chelsea head coach Jose Mourinho, who guided Roma to the Europa League final last season.”
On his feat so far, Lukaku scored 14 goals in 37 appearances last season in Italy and has helped Inter reach the Champions League final, where they were narrowly defeated by Manchester City.
The Belgian was not included in new Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino’s plans, on his return to London, despite the long-term injury suffered by the Blues’ star attacking signing Christopher Nkunku.
This is the second time Jose Mourinho will sign Lukaku. In 2017, the former Chelsea manager signed him in Manchester United.
