Nigerian music super stars, Damini Ogulu well known as Burna Boy and Temilade Openiyi popularly known as Tems have emerged winners at the 2023 edition of the BET awards held on Sunday night at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, United States of America.
Burna Boy also called the ‘African Giant’ defeated French singer, Aya Nakamura, British superstars, Ella Mai, Stormzy, and Central Cee, and his compatriot, Ayra Starr to clinch the ‘Best International Act’ award, while Tems won the award for Best Collaboration for the second year in a role for her contributions to Future’s ‘Wait For U’.
On June 26, 2023, the 2023 BET Awards was held and this edition celebrated 50 years of Hip Hop with memorable performances from rap legends including KRS1, Big Daddy, and Fat Joe.
Talented Nigerian singer, David Adeleke well known as Davido thrilled the audience with an electrifying performance at the show where with his new single ‘Unavailable’
Such feat marks the second year in a role an Afrobeat artist would be performing at the main event following Fireboy’s performance last year.
