Turkey has defeated Netherlands 4-2 in the ongoing 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
Talented Turkish player, Burak Yilmaz’s started the damage when his deflected shot wrong-footed goalkeeper Tim Krul, leaving the Dutch, runners up in 2010 helpless.
Turkey increased their hope of securing a win after Hakan Calhanoglu curled in a third then Yilmaz converted a penalty.
The defeat which was a surprise for Netherlands, rounded off with Yilmaz’s superb free-kick.
Interestingly, Memphis Depay saw a late spot-kick saved for the Dutch, who threatened to fight back via goals from Davy Klaassen and Luuk de Jong.
Netherlands struggled to create opportunities during the match but their efforts did not yield result. An example was the pressure mounted on Ugurcan Cakır in the Turkey goal.
Another unfortunate situation for the Dutch players was Matthijs de Ligt’s header which was lost before half-time.
