Hafsat Abiola Reacts
Daughter of the acclaimed winner of June 12, 1993 presidential election, late chief Mko Abiola, Hafsat Abiola-Constello has described the death sentence passed on major Hamza Al- Mustapha as a relief to the soul of her late mother, Alhaja Kudirat Abiola.
Speaking with newsman in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, Hafsat, who is Kudirat's daughter, said the judgment was victory for Nigerians though its process was slow.
She said, “my mother can now have a relief. I want to say that we are grateful to the judiciary for the judgment. Though we can say it is delayed, but, it was never denied. I am relieved myself, because we almost lost faith in the judiciary, but, today we have a victory for Nigerians."
Hafsat, who was barely 21 years old when her mother was gruesomely killed, described Lateef Shofolahan as an opportunist who came into the abiola family under the pretext of giving her mother political support but went extreme.
She however, stressed the need for the nation's judicial system to be overhauled and reformed.
