Federal Government Directives

The Federal Government earlier in the day, directed speakers of the affected State Houses of Assembly to assume office as acting governors. 

The Federal Government also directed the Inspector-General of Police and other law enforcement agencies to ensure orderly transition and to avoid a breach of the peace. This is contained in a statement signed by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mohammed Bello Adoke. 

The Federal Government called on political leadership in the affected states to give full effect to the judgment of the supreme court.
