The senate committee on environment and ecology has invited chevron and other critical stakeholders for discussions to ensure the clean-up of the oil spill in Koloma town in Bayelsa state.
This was contained in a statement signed by Mr. Akintoba Fatigun, the Press Officer to Sen. Bukola Saraki, the chairman of the committee.
In the statement, the committee pledged to take the necessary steps to also remediate the impacted area. The committee assured all Nigerians and the communities within the areas of impact, especially Koloma towns 1 and 2, Fishtown and Frupa, that it would ensure that measures were taken to protect the communities and the wider Nigerian environment.
