Edo Suspects Escape
The Edo state commissioner of police, Mr. Umar Manko has read the riot act to officers and men of the command, following the escape of 14 hardened criminals from detention at the command's headquarters.
The incident occurred barely 48 hours of his resumption in the state. Two policemen, who were said to be on night duty when the suspects escaped, have been detained in the cell from which the 14 suspects escaped.
The suspects were transferred from Ogida police station in Benin and handed over to the state Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, at the state police headquarters. The state police command has commenced a serious man-hunt for the re-arrest of the fleeing suspects.
