The presidency has kicked against any move to rig the supplementary elections that will take place in six states of the federation.

In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mallam Shehu Garba, the presidency will not intervene in the election to favour any party.

It called on the ruling All Progressives Congress to convince the electorate why they should vote for the party, adding, “President Muhammadu Buhari will not tamper with the results of the election to favour his party.”

The statement reiterated the commitment of the president ensure a free, fair and peaceful elections in all the state.

It also posited that all powers to conduct the elections lie with the Independent National Electoral Commission and that the presidency would not influence the outcome of the polls.

The states where supplementary elections will take place include Adamawa
Bauchi. …
