The Lagos State Government has confirmed two suspected cases of monkey pox in private hospitals in the state.
The state commissioner for health, Dr. Jide Idris said yesterday that the cases are yet to be confirmed but both are being investigated
The commissioner urged residents to be vigilant and maintain “high personal and environmental hygiene”.
They revealed that though there is no specific vaccine for the disease, vaccination against smallpox has been proven to be eighty five percent effective in preventing monkeypox
So far, no deaths have been recorded from monkey pox.
