The Black Stars of Ghana are the new champions of 2017 WAFU Cup, after defeating Nigeria 4-1 at the Cape Coast sports stadium on Sunday.
The Black Stars took a sweet revenge on Nigeria who walked off with a 2-0 victory when both sides clashed earlier in the group stage of the competition.
The home based super Eagles defence could not stand the strength of Stephen Sarfo, as he puts the host ahead in the 44th minute.
The Ghanaians scored their second goal in the 66th minute through a penalty that was converted by Atingha Adae.
In the 78th minute Sarfo increased the Black Stars’ goals after converting the second penalty of the match.
The Black Stars scored their fourth goal in the closing minutes of the game after Adae was sent off during injury time.
Rabin Ali’s consolatory goal could not make the difference for Nigeria, in stoppage time.
The Ghana side lifted the trophy which has a cash prize of 100,000 dollars attached.
