The Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed has refuted insinuations that government may be trying to stifle freedom of expression in the country.
 
He says, the government is instead working at curbing hate speech which has been on the rise.
 
He also pointed out that despite existing laws, fresh legislations may be necessary to plug any loopholes that may be exploited by purveyors of hate speech.

Meanwhile, humanitarian workers have pulled out of the Internally Displaced Persons camp in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
 
The decision followed the outbreak of violence in the camp during a protest by the IDPs over the quantity of food brought in for distribution.
