Chairman Senate Committee on Navy, Isa Misau has accused police authorities of collecting bribes to effect some special promotions in the force.

The senator who represents Bauchi Central Senatorial District, also alleged that a particular police chief pocketed over N120 billion from oil firms, banks and other institutions.

The allegation is coming few days after the Nigeria Police wrote to the senate through its ethics committee to probe Senator Misau for allegation of forgery.

In what looks like a fight-back, the police  says it is investigating the senate committee Chairman on Navy, Senator Isa Misau, for alleged forgery of his retirement letter from the service.

The force described Mr. Misau as a “police deserter”.

The police spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, told journalists yesterday in Abuja that all those involved in the forgery of the letter were being probed, including a Police Service Commission Official, Garos Logams, who allegedly signed the document.

Senator Misau had accused the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, of pocketing N10 billion monthly as payments for special security services rendered by the police to corporate organisations and very important personalities.
