A Chief Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt has remanded a police sergeant Johnbosco Okoronze, in prison custody following the escape of a suspected ritualist Ifeanyichukwu Dike from police custody under his watch.

The suspected ritualist who is an undergraduate of the University of Port Harcourt, escaped from police custody in Port Harcourt four hours after he was arrested and paraded for raping, killing and cutting-off vital body parts of his eight-year-old niece for money rituals.

Also in Rivers State, the Appeal Court has dismissed an appeal filed by Senator George Sekibo challenging the judgment of the Rivers State National Election Tribunal which removed him as senator representing Rivers East Senatorial District.

The appellate court held that the appeal lacked merit as it did not show facts as to why the decision of the lower court should be set aside.
