Nearly half a trillion naira is given as bribe to public officials in Nigeria every year. 
This is part of a twenty sixteen report on corruption in Nigeria by the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime. 
Country Representative of the UNODC Christina Albertine, says Nigeria needs to strengthen its investigation and prosecution systems, as well as more international cooperation, if it is to win the fight against corruption. 

In the meantime, the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun says the whistle blower policy as at the end of July this year, received 5, 000 tips. 
Out of these, only 365 are actionable. 
She disclosed this at the Bureau of Public Service reforms seminar in Abuja.
