The Cross River Police Command has confirmed that nine people died in a fire outbreak that occurred at LINC Oil and Gas tank farm yesterday.
 
The state Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Inuwa, confirmed the figure.
 
He added that several other persons, who sustained injuries were currently being treated in one of the hospitals in Calabar.
 
According to him, the manager of the depot is yet to brief the police on what led to the explosion.

Meanwhile, the police in Rivers State have paraded over 200 suspected cultists in Ikwerre and Emohua Local Government areas.
 
The suspected cultists who  were paraded at the premises of the state anti-robbery squad SARS were arrested within the last two weeks.
 
The commissioner of police in Rivers State Zaki Ahmed said they were picked up from their various hideouts.
 
CP Zaki Ahmed said some of the suspected cultists have confessed to being responsible for some kidnappings and armed robbery cases in their areas.
