There are indications that the presidency may approach the Supreme Court for legal interpretation of section 171 of the constitution to know if it has powers to confirm its nominees for appointment without recourse to the National Assembly.

A source at the presidency told journalists at the weekend that the presidency had been advised to do so to put to rest the row between the executive and legislative arms of the government.

The senate had since suspended all issues bordering on confirmation of any nominee by the president until the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo would sack the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu.
