Since her debut episode at the beginning of Game of Thrones' season two, Gemma Whelan has been doing an outstanding job of incarnating the ferocious Yara Greyjoy.

But, as the actor recently revealed, one slip almost got her fired from the HBO show before she even began.

Speaking to The Times, Whelan has described how an accidental spoiler got her into some pretty hot water with the big bosses.

Upon bagging the job, the actor quite understandably wanted to update her CV with a line about the show. Big mistake. As she explains:

"The first lesson I learnt was when I first got the job. No-one told me to keep quiet about it. I just thought it was normal to pop it on my Spotlight entry, so I wrote on my CV, 'This summer Gemma will be playing Yara Greyjoy in Game of Thrones'. And the internet went nuts.

One of the lovely, lovely producers on Thrones called me into his office and said, 'This is very serious. We almost can't employ you because of this'."

Basically, the GoT team take any potential leak VERY seriously – which is hardly surprising considering the lengths the producers go to to keep on-set snaps from leaking.
