Nigerian books have been adapted for the big screen – to mixed results – but we have such great material to work with, it's shocking that it doesn't happen more often. That's why we are excited for the upcoming film, Tatu, adapted from Abraham Nwankwo's 2004 novel even when Hollywood and Bollywood have been reaping the benefits of book-to-film adaptations for decades,

Produced and directed by Don Omope – the producer of The Wedding Party and Taxi Driver: Oko Asehwo – Tatu is described as "a contemporary take on the classic African epic adventure story; a fast-paced action drama centered around the conflict arising from a mother’s quest to have a child."

The movie also has a very impressive cast: Segun Arinze (particularly terrifying in the teaser), Desmond Elliott, Toyin Aimakhun-Abraham, Gabriel Afolayan, Rahama Sadau, Sambaza Nzeribe, Funlola Aofiyebi-Raimi, Hafiz Oyetoro and Frank Donga.

Tatu is set to premiere at the Eko Hotel Convention Centre on July 22. Till then, you can watch the teaser below:
