The Federal Government has officially announced that Nigeria is free from the latest ‘type c’ deadly Cerebro Spinal Meningitis. 

The outbreak which began in November 2016 in Zamfara state has claimed thousands of lives especially as there were limited vaccines for the new strain recorded for the first time in the country. 

Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole declared the country free while addressing state house correspondent after the Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja on Wednesday. 

The FEC also approved the enrolment of members of the National Youth Service Corps  into the National Health Insurance Scheme to guarantee them access to quality healthcare services during their service year.
