The Federal Government has declared Monday 29 of May as a public holiday to celebrate this year Democracy Day.

Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd.) in a statement in Abuja congratulated Nigerians for witnessing yet another Democracy Day which marked the second anniversary of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Government.

He assured Nigerians of the government’s continued efforts towards guaranteeing security, revitalizing the economy and tackling corruption.

Nigeria has been under democratic rule since 1999.

Successive governments have ruled the country in that period each making different promises that were largely unfulfilled.

On his way to the presidency, President Muhammadu Buhari promised to change the way Nigerians do things. Nigerians put their faith in him and elected him to office.
