The leadership of Nigerian Labour Congress NLC in Rivers State is calling for better conditions of service especially as it concerns the economic conditions brought by recession.
 
Chairman of NLC in Rivers State Beatrice Itubo while addressing workers at the May Day celebration said workers had been the hardest hit as a result of economic recession.
 
Elsewhere in Port Harcourt the newly inaugurated United Labour Congress UCL led by its leader in Rivers Charles Aleto held a rally to commemorate   the day with a promise to tackle issues surrounding nonpayment of workers after retirement.
