Popular Nigerian entertainers Basketmouth, Daddy Showkey and Dolapo Oni-Sijuade were part of a session the Nigerian Entertainment Conference which held today at the Landmark Event Centre, Lagos.
Nollywood actress Tonto Dikeh who was also slated to be part of the session was absent.
The session also featured SHUGA founder, Akin Shuga as well as City FM boss Doja Allen and a Firstbank official, Yinka Ijabiyi.
The celebrities who mounted the stage debated "Why the rest of the World Needs African Entertainment".
Here are major highpoints from Basketmouth's speech "Talent is the only resource that does not run dry.
"You cannot take your culture to the western world. You can only take your originality.
You don’t need a Godfather to make it in the industry and we need to put more structures in place to drive the growth of the Nigerian entertainment industry.
According to him, "If you want to succeed in the industry, dive into it because you love it".
He also went on to say that "2face's protest failed because entertainers backed out, I’m also guilty".
Daddy Showkey then went on to advise new generation artistes that they need to understand that they’re not the first to get international attention.
In Showkey's word "Some of us were approached over two decades ago for our local content".
