The Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole has announced the ban on Chloroquine and Artemisinin monotherapy used in the treatment of Malaria.

He also stated that about N300 billion was being lost annually by the Federal Government in the treatment and prevention of the disease. 

According to him, the losses are incurred in government’s efforts to address the scourge in the country. 

At the commemoration of this year’s World Malaria Day in Abuja yesterday , the minister regretted that 90 per cent of the entire population of 180 million people, particularly pregnant women and children under the age of five, remain at risk.
