The Senate has described as a step in the right direction, the suspension of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal and the Director General, National Intelligence Agency, Amabassador Ayo Oke.

The Vice Chairman, Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Ben Murray-Bruce, PDP, Bayelsa State, said that President Muhammadu Buhari must be commended for taking such step.

As he put it, “The suspension is a step in the right direction, I am a member of the Senate Ad-hoc Committee on Mounting Humanitarian Crisis in the North-East.”

“Buhari is doing the right thing, he should be commended. It is a right step in the right direction.”

On their part, most members of the House of Representatives unanimously agreed that a detailed probe be carried out on the the suspended government officials.

Minority Leader of the House, Leo Ogor, PDP, Delta State, urged the government to probe the NIA DG to tell Nigerians why he had kept such money in a private apartment.

Lawal and Oke was suspended yesterday while Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would be leading the committee to investigate them.
