The House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee on review of pump price of petroleum products has summoned Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Dr. Maikanti Baru; Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas and Managing Director of Lubcon Oil to appear before it on April 7.
They are expected to explain issues concerning foreign exchange claims and lifting of crude oil by some companies not qualified to do so.
The Nnanna Igbokwe-led adhoc committee also accused some oil companies operating in Nigeria of sabotaging the economy by not remitting the appropriate funds to the relevant agencies.
In another development, the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, says it would collaborate with Amnesty International to promote the rights of vulnerable groups across the country.
President of NLC, Ayuba Wabba, stated this during a solidarity visit to Amnesty International in Abuja yesterday.
Mr. Wabba said this had become imperative as rights of Nigerians, especially vulnerable groups such as women, children and the less privileged, were being trampled upon.
