The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC says it will generate about 4, 000 megawatts of electricity in the next ten years to boost power supply in the country.
The corporation’s Chief Operating Officer,  Gas and Power,  Saidu Mohammed, said this at the 2016 retreat of his autonomous business unit,  in Kaduna.
He said the target would be met  through building independent power plants.
He said NNPC required about $15 billion  investment to realize the gas and power autonomy.

In another development, a Civil Society Group, Save Humanity Advocacy Centre has condemned Amnesty International's 2016.
The Executive Secretary of the group  Ibrahim Abubakar said the report is capable of derailing the successes recorded in the war against Boko Haram.
Amnesty International Nigeria in February released a report alleging widespread human rights abuses by the military and the police.
