Nigerians are sixth happiest people in Africa. And that’s according to a new report released by Sustainable Development Solutions Network, a global initiative of the United Nations.

It called on nations to build social trust and equality to improve the well being of their citizens.

Algeria leads the rest of Africa .followed by Mauritius. Strife-torn Libya is surprisingly ranked third, ahead of Morocco. And even a bigger surprise, another crisis-torn nation, Somalia is Africa’s fifth happiest country ahead of Nigeria and South Africa, ranked 7th. Tunisia is eighth and Egypt ninth, while Sierra Leone is tenth.

At the bottom ten are Benin, Madagascar, South Sudan, Liberia, and  seven others.

On the global stage, Norway displaced Denmark as the world’s happiest country.

But one Nigerian has demonstrated  how unhappy he was. A medical doctor,  jumped into a lagoon on the Third Mainland Bridge, in the Adekunle area of Lagos State yesterday.

Dr Allwell Orji, came off his sport utility vehicle  after he allegedly received a call, walked to the railings on the bridge and jumped into the Lagoon.

The LASEMA General Manager, Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu, who confirmed the incident, said some local divers and men of the agency were still searching for the victim in the lagoon.
