Gunmen again attacked Ashim Village in the Takad Chiefdom of Kaura Local Government Area of Southern Kaduna State yesterday killing 14 people and injuring many.
 
Chairman of the Local Government’s Interim Management Committee, Alexander Iya who briefed newsmen on the incident, said that the gunmen stormed the village “around six in the morning and launched a massive attack.
 
He said that most of the victims were women and children, whose corpses had been deposited at the Kafanchan General Hospital.

Meanwhile former Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Commasie has called for more budgetary allocation to the Nigeria Police to enable it purchase modern weapons to combat rising crimes in the country.
 
Aside recruitment of more police officers, the retired police boss appealed to well-meaning Nigerians to partner with the government to fund procurement of arms and ammunition for effective crime management and control.

The former IGP spoke at the Force Headquarters while commissioning vehicles donated to the Nigeria Police by a business man, Abba Usman.
