The 2017 appropriation bill of N7.3 trillion passed through the second reading at the senate yesterday.
 
This followed consideration of the general principles of the bill, which started on Tuesday.
 
Also the House of Representatives has concluded debate on the budget and is set to resume defence on it.
 
Yesterday issues that topped the agenda include, infrastructural development, agriculture, solid minerals development, tackling the rising cases of militant activities in the Niger Delta region among others.

The house also deliberated on  a bill seeking to provide for open coverage of court proceedings with a view to making the judiciary more transparent and accountable.

The bill passed through second reading in the House of Representatives yesterday.
 
Sponsor of the bill representative Daniel Reyneiju said the judiciary as an arm of government should be covered by the media which mirrors the society.
