As part of efforts to alleviate the plight of Internally Displaced Persons in the North-east, the National Emergency Management Agency and  Economic Community of West African States, have presented  food, building materials and cash for the care of the IDPs  in Maiduguri, Borno State.
 
Handing over separate cheques of $1.4 million to the Borno State Governor, Kashim Shetima, the ECOWAS President, Marcel de Souza, said they wanted to share the feelings and concerns for IDPs and refugees in Nigeria.

In another development, as the world marks Human Rights Day, a call has gone out to all citizens to use their daily lives to advance the rights of the people around them.
 
This was the position of speakers at the Human Rights Summit organized by the Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos Branch.
