The senate has threatened to suspend all proceedings except the Independent National Electoral Commission conducts all outstanding Rivers and Anambra State re-run elections on or before December 10.

The upper chamber is not happy that its members earlier elected and sacked by a tribunal are yet to participate in a rerun election one year after.

Deputy President of the senate, Ike Ekweremadu says the delay breaches section 14 sub-section 2 (c) of the constitution and can lead to breakdown of law and order.

Other lawmakers in their remarks described the delay in the conduct of the election as an attempt to cause confusion in the polity.

Yesterday, the House of Representatives urged INEC to conduct all outstanding rerun polls in the two state, saying the delay is against the fundamental human rights of the people in the state.
