In the wake of the controversy stirred up by the arrest of judges by the Department of State Service, the Federal Government says it has the highest respect for the Nigerian judiciary.

It is insisting that the recent arrest of seven judges including two justices of the Supreme Court is not intended to ridicule the third arm of government.

President Muhammadu Buhari had met with the Chief Justice of Nigeria Mahmud Mohammed to compare notes on why the DSS has to take such decision.

The seven judges were alleged to have involved in corruption, which of ccourse the present administration had vowed to fight.

The Nigeria Bar Association condemned the arrest and detain of the judges as it accused the executive arm of government of trying to intimidate the judiciary.
